AOS’ Salvatore Iaconesi and Oriana Persico will be among the Keynote Speakers at Cumulus international design gathering in Rome, on June 8th 2021. Among the other keynote speakers will be Roberto Marchesini, Pier Luigi Capucci and Chiara Luzzana.

Due to the COVID restrictions, the conference, which was planned for 2020, has been postponed to June 8-11 2021, with the theme of Design Culture(s):

The working title of the Conference is “Design Culture(s)” and it is aimed to map the most advanced research and education in design, by reflecting on the idea of design as a form of culture, while drawing its field and opening to new directions.
Design Culture(s) is investigating not simply on the concept of culture as a monolithic expression of a specific knowledge that reflects on itself, but as the product of an investigation that is open to many different “Cultures” which are emerging and revolving around it in society, in the places and in history.

Salvatore and Oriana will speak about Nuovo Abitare:

Nuovo Abitare (New Living) is our contemporary condition, where so many of our rights, freedoms and opportunities are entangled with enormous quantities and qualities of data, and with the computation needed to process them. But, at the same time, data is the planet’s largest extractive phenomenon. We need to reinvent our alliances with data and computation, creating new rituals for our daily lives, in an ecosystemic vision of human beings, as part of the relational networks with other humans and non-humans, such as objects, buildings, cities, forests, animals, computational entities and all the possible new actors, which can use data and computation as a common ground for the emergence of new sensibilities. Some of these new possible rituals and alliances will be presented and discussed, as a practical foundation of this new vision.
