Magritte’s painting comes to life with a software drama about love and understanding each other.
LesAmants is an installation/performance based on “les Amants” painting by René Magritte.
The two lovers, blinded by the sheet on their head, clearly cannot see each other. And so they wander around and out of the painting.
Their only hope of reunion is in language.
The audience uses two terminals to make each of the lovers say something to the other one.
A linguistic engine interprets “relevant” messages to feed the lovers’ behavioral algorythms, allowing for them to go toward their beloved one, or to push it away should it pronounce words that are scary or offensive.
When they eventually kiss, a surprise happens.
