The real time visualisation of the struggles in Cairo, Egypt, first in 2011, then in 2013.

Each day we use social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare as public spaces in which we express ourselves, our feelings and emotions, our perception of the spaces around us, our desires, wishes and expectations.

Or, such as in Cairo, Egypt, in 2011-2013, to express our dissent, to enact our freedoms, and to inform of the difficult situations in which we find ourselves and with the communities we live in.

The artwork consists of:

  • the realtime visualisations of the struggles, as they emerged on social networks
  • the source of Open Data of all the expressions in the city during the protests
  • the tools, to be used by activists all over the world to capture, communicate and document their struggles as they happen
